Pencil Compositional Sketch for 'Love and Death' showing a full-length standing robed figure of Death seen from the back with body turned to the right and head leaning forward with proper right arm ourstreched and raised to the right; figure shown crossing the threshold of an open doorway with an indication of vegetation on the right -pose similar to the figure of Death in the Tate version of 'Love and Death' but folds of drapery less developed and no indication of the figure of Love; doorway closer than in the finished oil version; study of the draped figure for the allergorical (symbolist) picture
